ABOUT DDPP
Dance Dance Party Party is more than a dance party, it’s a mother effin’ revolution! It’s a judgment-free zone full of amazing ladies just like you. We guarantee you can do your funkiest, craziest dance moves and no one will bat an eye because we’ll all be doing the same.
THERE IS NO TEACHER so you can feel free to do what you want. Want to spin? Spin! Want to jump? Jump! Want to sit in the corner and do yoga? Sweet! Do it!
Dance Dance Party Party is just like being out at a club with your girlfriends without the expensive cover charge and sweaty dudes grinding on you (ew) and trying to get yer number (no).
Leave your painful high heels at home, but bring your workout clothes because you will SWEAT!
So… what are you waiting for?
F.A.Q.
1. I don’t get it…what do you do?
Well when you first walk in the room we’ll probably all be standing around, you know, waiting for the fun to start. Then we’ll turn on the small disco ball we use, turn off the lights and blast the music. There’s a mirror you can watch yourself dance in if you want or you can move toward the back and groove back there. And by groove we mean dance however you want. There’s no instructor and no rules (except the no judgment thing) so you can do whatever you want! Every once in a while we’ll all start doing a simple dance step we love (we call that spontaneous choreography - SO FUN!) and you can do that with us… or do your own thing! Are you seeing a pattern here? Just come, sing along, move around a little and we swear you will leave on cloud 9.
2. Why ladies only?
We like keeping it a fun, free environment where we don’t have to worry about impressing anyone except ourselves. Having guys in the room would change the dynamic and we’re pretty pleased with the way it is.
3. What should I wear?
Wear workout clothes because you will SWEAT. Definitely don’t wear jeans and if you come in layers expect them to be peeled off. Trust us. Other than that just wear whatever you feel most comfortable in!
4. What if I can’t dance?
Don’t worry, neither can we! And besides, no one will be watching you so even if you’re the worst dancer of all time (and seriously, no one is worse than Glennis and she’s pretty proud of that) the only one who’ll notice is you. After a while you’ll begin to realize you’re a much better dancer than you think. We’ve all seen Britney Spears enough to copy at least her facial expressions.
5. Can I show off my moves if I’m a dancer?
Sure. Why not! Just make sure you don’t injure anyone or make the whole class about you showing off your moves because that might get boring for the rest of us. But if you can do a mean “worm” (like Marcy…seriously she’s the best) then show that shit off!
6. I have no rhythm. What if everyone laughs at me?
If anyone laughs at you they are OUT OF THERE. Our only rule (as you’ll see below) is that all judgments are left outside so we really have no problem telling someone to step if they’re making anyone uncomfortable.
7. So you don’t have ANY rules?
Only one: no judgments. Just be cool, ok?
8. Can I DJ?
Yes you can! We’d love for you to! All we ask is that you attend at least one DDPP before you do so you can get an idea of the feel and what people love to dance to. Check out our DJ page for more info!
9. Can I bring friends?
Please do! DDPP is even better with friends!
10. Can I start DDPP in my town?
Sure! Just talk to us first so we can talk to you about it. We’d love to take DDPP all over but we want to make sure the concept stays the same. Email us at dancedancepartyparty[at]gmail[dot]com.

I simply love the idea of DDPP, but find it almost impossible to make it at that particular time on Sundays (earlier or later on Sundays or anytime Saturdays would work). It’s a simply fabulous idea and I was wondering if there are any other times and/or locations available in the city?
Thank you and enjoy.
Kathie
No plans yet to add any other dates, sadly. I know it doesn’t work for a lot of people, but it’s what works for us and the Mt. Pleasant Community Centre.
Perhaps in the fall we can get a few DDPP’s going a week. Please send your request to the program director at MPCC at mtpleasantcc@vancouver.ca.
Thanks for your interest!
Sara
Will mom type “girls” who want to dance too feel weird? Could I bring a teenager?
No one should feel weird. All women are welcome of any age.
Note: if you have questions the best way to get a quick response is to e-mail me. My address is at the top of the page on the left under the location information.
