Unlike typical workout or dance classes, Dance Dance Party Party™ has no instructors, no fitness goals, and nothing to prove! There are three official rules — no boys, no booze, no judgement.

The original DDPP™ began in NYC in 2006, and is now based out of Chicago.

We are the Vancouver chapter & we welcome all self-identified women!

So… what are you waiting for?

1. I don’t get it… what do you do?

We turn down the lights, we turn up the tunes, a poor-gal’s version of a disco ball starts up and we shake our groove things. It’s that simple! There is no teacher – our “Den Mama” will get you started, and will let you know when it’s the last song. Take breaks when you need them, or dance it out for the whole hour!

2. What should I wear? What should I bring?

Wear whatever you want! We suggest comfortable workout clothes because you will SWEAT. Non-scuffing shoes preferred – socks or bare-feet are ok too! Bring WATER!

3. What if I can’t dance?

Don’t worry, neither can we! This is about FUN, so try out your funkiest moves, pretend you’re in your own music video, or just sway in the corner… whatever works for you!

4. What music to do you listen to?

Each week a Den Mama or a guest DJ prepares a playlist to bring to class. We post each list (with some commentary) on the blog, with our most recent at the top of the home page. You can find all of our previous playlists in the Archives!

5. Can I DJ?

Yes you can! And just to be clear, by “DJ” we mean putting together a kick-ass mix on your iPod, so actual DJ skills are not required. All we ask is that you attend at least one session first so you can get the feel of it. Check out our DJ YOU page for more info!

  1. Hi, I love coming to DDPP! I am wondering if you could edit your website and Facebook group to say that the class is for self-identified women. When this is not specified, it makes me feel uncomfortable about inviting my friends who are trans because they might not feel sure that they would be welcome. Heck, if makes me feel uncomfortable about going to DDPP myself. You have done an awesome job of creating a space that is comfy and accepting for many of us! This step would make DDPP safer and more joyful for more ladies.

    • Hi Alana! Thanks for communicating with us by email, as I only saw this comment notification now somehow! Glad these updates were made to our website and FB group earlier this year 🙂
