It’s time to Dance Dance Party Party

What’s Dance Dance Party Party?

It’s a fun-focused, free-form, fitness party for ladies. The official rules are: No Boys, No Booze, No Judgement.

DDPP Vancouver has added a No Talking rule, because our sound system isn’t very loud.

It’s like having a slumber party with your best friends, only you just met them.

It’s a place where you are free to go wild. Or just wiggle in the corner if that’s your thing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I wear?  Whatever you want. But keep this in mind – YOU WILL SWEAT. I wear workout clothing: a supportive sports bra, shorts, tank top, and running shoes (because I like to bounce). You can wear a dress, a bodysuit, track-pants or jeans. You can even dance barefoot. You are the master of your own domain at DDPP. Just remember, come prepared to sweat.

What kind of music do you play? Every week there’s a new DJ so the mixes are always different. A good mix is eclectic: music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and current pop hits. Music that’s about dancing and parties are always good bets. We like upbeat, high tempo, dance music. You will hear guilty pleasures. You will hear Britney, Gaga, Madonna, Beyonce, Cher, and more. If you’re looking for etherial music or live drumming with your free-form dancing this is NOT the place.

I don’t get it, what goes on at DDPP? I know, it’s a little crazy. First we have a little check-in and go over the rules, just so everyone is on the same page. Then the lights dim and the music starts. Then you dance however you want. Be inspired by others in the room or just check out your own moves in the mirrors. Join the conga line or skip to your own beat. You can come and go in and out of the room as you please. The last song is a cool down, that’s when you’re encourage to stretch, but if you want to keep dancing that’s cool too. No one is going to tell you what you can’t do here. (Well…. Unless you’re talking a lot or gyrating against people that don’t like it.)

Awesome! Do I sign-up or is it drop-in? Both! You can sign up for 17 sessions (Jan 7- April 29) for only $85, contact the Mount Pleasant Community Centre to do that. Or you can pay $7 drop-in each time. Just pay at the main desk and bring your receipt to the dance studio down the hall. Please remember to give your receipt to the Den Mama (usually me, Sara).

See you Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Mount Pleasant Community Centre, Dance Studio, 1 Kingsway at 8:45pm.

All of these dance moves are acceptable at DDPP VanCity
