Thursday September 15 was the first DDPP since June and holy smokes did I miss it. And holy mama was last night ever fun!

The room was packed! So packed I couldn’t get a head count. I think we had over 35 women (at least!) in the room spanning an age range from 8- 60s.

Those of you who were there – high five! It was the most fun I’ve ever had at DDPP.

Here’s the set list from last night:

I’m glad you enjoyed it and went full force. I know there’s always a wall about 30 minutes in but you pushed through like champions.

For those of you who are thinking about DJ-ing an upcoming DDPP here’s some tips that I hope you use to make a rockin’ and successful set list for this class.

  1. Mix up genres. DDPP has wide appeal to women from all backgrounds and ages. Eclectic mixes of guilty pleasures and hits from various decades seems to be the magic formula for a kick ass DDPP mix.
  2. Remember to break up your playlist with high energy and slightly lower energy (aka groovier) songs. This way you wont wear everyone out in the first five songs. I’m guilty of this as I tend to like bouncy music. Throw in some soul, disco or R&B so we can get our groove back.
  3. Don’t be afraid to be silly. Include a song that tells us how to dance like the Locomotion! Remember when we made that chain? That was awesome. DDPP is full of silly moments like this so put on a track that will bring a smile to everyone’s face and help them move their body in a different way.
  4. I always think songs about dancing, partying or getting down are good go-to songs because that’s what Dance Dance Party Party is all about!

If you want to register for DDPP go to the Mt Pleasant Community Centre at 1 Kingsway or call 604-257-3080 class number is 41700.401MP we run every Thursday from 8:30-9:30 pm until December 8.

Remember you’re beautiful. You’re the most beautiful girl (in the room).
