DJ Moto-Vate-Her

Thanks for the kick-ass set list by dance-tastic DJ Moto-Vate-Her.

As your Den Mother I have to bring up an important issue. Girls, get ready for some tough love.

Last night there were a bunch of lovely DDPP newbies, which was great, however there was WAY too much chit-chatting going on throughout the class.

As your Den Mother I’m thrilled that you ladies are having fun with each other, but I should have cracked the whip and upped my shhhhh-ing. At the top of the class I mentioned that one of the rules is ‘no talking’ that it’s better to use your body or sing along to the lyrics to communicate because this is a dance-focused zone.

Since last night’s class I’ve received a few messaged from DDPP regulars who found the excessive chattering distracting. I’ve got to agree with them.

When I visited the DDPP Mothership (NYC) part of what I found amazing is the zen-like focus that comes with no talking during class, I brought that back to VanCity and it makes a huge difference to the DDPP experience.

Also, as we all know the sound system at Mt Pleasant Community Centre is poopy, so any extra sound muffles the tunes we’re rocking out to.

From here on as your Den Mother I promise to guide you better and keep the rules intact. You can read more about them here: https://ddppvancouver.wordpress.com/about/

Ladies who come in groups are fantastic but as there are 20 other people in the room please branch out of the dance clique we’ve done since grade four dances. We are women now: let loose, explore the space, dance like no one is watching and let the music speak for us. If you try it I’m sure you’ll see you have just as much fun and maybe even learn a thing or two about yourself and your moves.

Keep dancing and I’ll see you next week.

x

Den Mother Sara
